DescriptionThis is the original poster painting for the 1984 film Ice Pirates, starring Robert Urich, Mary Crosby, Michael D. Roberts, and a young Ron Perlman!The movie has kung fu robots, space herpes, robo-pimps, time travel afros, and a bazillion other bits of genius that elevate it to a true classic of American cinema. Growing up in the 80s this movie was on constant cable rotation where I lived, burning itself into my childhood as few movies did, easily earning itself a place on the list of 'Top 20 Most Important Movies of My Youth'. This was the era of Struzan, Amsel, Alvin, Peak, and a slew of other greats at their best. An era when some truly iconic images were created through movie posters. Most of those original paintings are locked away in Spielberg and Lucas collections, never to be attained by mere mortals. But then there was Ice Pirates, this B-movie gem, the perfect combination of 'awesome poster' and 'small fan base' that made it seem a bit more attainable. So I reached out to the artist, Steve Chorney, and lo and behold he still had the original:) I spent more than a year hemming and hawing and wondering if I was buying something so absurd that only I'd ever appreciate it, but then one day it hit me - how many of my other favorite posters even exist on the market? They're are locked away! This was a truly rare opportunity I would regret if I didn't jump on, so I finally took the plunge:) On the nostalgia factor alone this was as cool of an item as I could get from Ice Pirates. This image was used for EVERYTHING! Every DVD, Bluray, CD, VHS, Laserdisc, and t-shirt for 40 years has used this image:) The piece is 24" x 30", with illustration board on foamcore. This is amazing!!! This was also one of my favorite movies growing up (in the 80’s), so major congrats on this stunning acquisition!!! Please, please, please do keep me in mind should you ever get fed up with it... :-))

I’m loving that so many other folks love this movie:) For years nobody seemed to know this movie but me!

Such a great bad 80s movie! One of my all time favorites. Love seeing this on CAF. Too much fun!

Great artist, great movie. I watch it every once in a while and had a commission done of it. (not in my gallery as of this comment)

How friggin' cool that this is preserved and you've shared it on CAF. Just a classic poster from one of the all time best cult flicks.
