DescriptionThornton Fisher (1888-1975) enjoyed a robust career as a cartoonist, working on a variety of comic strips and panels for various papers. But it was his sports cartooning for the New York Evening Journal that brought him the most acclaim in the 1920s. Fisher’s work was syndicated by the Hearst machine, which allowed from around the country to see his work. Interestingly, Fisher’s cartoon career wound down in the late 1920s, as he turned his skills to radio, where he spent decades as a popular sports analyst on NBC radio, among other stations.
