DescriptionThis is different from the majority of my other work, in that Tom is a new artist and not someone who I've admired for years.I saw his work after another artist I follow posted about it (I can't remember if it was Declan Shalvey, Greg Smallwood or Phil Hester) and I checked out his Instagram profile. I immediately fell in love with it. Tom's bound to be a huge star soon. His work is part of the wave that's inspired by Alex Toth, like Smallwood and especially Samnee. But there's still a quality to it that's all his own. I'm a big fan. When I saw how ridiculously cheap his commissions were, I immediately wrote him about getting one. We talked it over, discussed characters, but quickly settled on Spidey, as we're both huge fans. As Tom's prices were so low, I opted for getting two characters. I decided to go with Flint Marko, as he's a very visually interesting character. I discussed the option of getting the entire Sinister Six, but that would bring it out of my price range (because as a student, I don't have much money to spend on art. Tom's prices remained very reasonable). So instead I suggested working them into the composition instead and Tom said he could make that work. And boy, did he! He used most of my suggestions, both for background and for Spidey and Sandman's fight, but also made it his own awesome thing. Despite how much is going on in the image, the focus is still squarely on the two characters fighting. It feels like a single moment in a larger fight between Spidey and the Sinister Six. Tom's texture work is spectacular too. Doc Ock's metal arms really look like metal, Mysterio's smoke feels airy and Sandman is wonderfully grainy. I think the best way to sum up how happy I am with this piece, is that despite having NO room on my walls for any new art, I still can't stop thinking about getting another (and another and another) piece from Tom again. Great commission! Spidey vs. one of his biggest bads done in grand fashion. And what really rounds out the piece are all of the additional nods to members of the Sinister Six! Great idea and even better execution. Congrats!

Thank you!
Yeah, Tom really nailed the execution of this one. I can't speak highly enough of him!
