DescriptionNext up for the Justice Toys is Sky Princezz, their Wonder Woman equivalent.Aura, a.k.a. Sky Princezz, was inspired from 90s cartoon shows like "Jewel Riders" and "Dragon Flyz." The idea is that Aura was created as part of a toy line for a cartoon called "Sky Knightz of Oxzigen." In the show itself, Aura was the only woman in the main cast of heroes, the Sky Knightz. However, during the first season she proved to be the most popular character because the sales for her toys were the highest. Fans and critics believed she was a far more interesting character than the actual main protagonist, Gen the Sky Knight. They argued Gen had no charisma and the personality of a stale bread stick. Even Gen's voice actor and the show's writers hated him. They wanted to do more complex storytelling but the executives pushed them to make him a bland, all powerful hero who was always right in every argument. Thus they subtly focused on giving Aura character development. So the cartoon was retooled as "Sky Princezz and the Sky Knightz" and the story went in a direction the writers were more comfortable with, starting with Gen's death. Unfortunately, after the retooling a number of fans started boycotting the show. By "Fans" I mean basement dwelling, unemployed nerds who got upset a Black woman replaced a white guy as the main character in a show meant for kids. Their form of protest consisted of boycotting in front of toy stores until parents were afraid to bring their kids inside, as well as harassing Aura's voice actress by sending her death threats and phone calls until she was too scared to make public appearances at cons. The show was eventually cancelled because of all the bad publicity, and the toy line ended. This Aura is one of the few near mint Sky Princezz toys left years after the show ended. She rides an invisible dragon that was included in her box set. Her archenemy is a toy called "Rainslayer." He was a prototype that never got mass produced since the show's cancellation halted production. It turns out Rainslayer is actually Gen, who would've been brought back back as a villain in the show's unfinished fourth season. Social/Sharing |
