Description

This collection of production artwork, consisting of a 14.5" x 12" original hand-painted gouache background on illustration board, a 12.75" x 10" original graphite sketch on paper, and a 8.5" x 11" original hand-inked drawing on illustration paper, was used to design the Walt Disney Records Halloween Songs & Sounds CD cover in the early 2000s.

Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, and Piglet are dressed for a night of trick-or-treating in the Hundred Acre Wood, their pumpkin pails brimming with sweets, as bats fly overhead them across a moon-drenched sky.

The first half of Halloween Songs & Sounds features a compilation of children's music performed by Disney characters like Mickey, Goofy, and Tigger ("Heffalumps and Woozles," "Which Witch Is Which?," "They Don't Scare Me," "The Werewolf Song," "Shake Your Bones," and "I Wanna Scare Myself"). Selections from this family-friendly fare play regularly during the annual Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party event at the Walt Disney World theme park.

The remaining six tracks ("Night Creatures," "Haunted House," "The Dungeon," "The Witches," "Encounter in the Fog," and "Mad Scientist's Laboratory") curiously come from NEW Chilling, Thrilling Sounds of the Haunted House, the 1979 gold-record album by the Walt Disney Sound Effects Group. Due to that LP's relatively intense depictions of frightening situations, Disney stamped a "parental guidance suggested" warning on its vinyl jacket, but this reissue contains Side One almost in its entirety--albeit with the removal of a jump-scare shriek at the end of a Jack the Ripper-inspired segment.
