Description

Batman (Vol. 1) 712 original cover art, "Pieces, Part Three: Gilded Lily". For the past dozen years Tony Daniel has been one of the key artists working for DC on Batman stories. His version of the character is very popular with fans and has appeared on several of the most high profile Bat-projects of the past decade. This cover to Batman #712 (2011) features Batman appearing to have won a fight with Two-Face on the roof of a Gotham City building. The Batman shown here is the now adult Dick Grayson, the former Robin who usually goes by the name Nightwing. During the 2008-2009 event called Final Crisis, the Bruce Wayne Batman was apparently killed, but in reality was just sent back to the distant past. For almost three years in real world time, Dick Grayson took on the mantle as Batman while Bruce Wayne's son with Talia Al Ghul, Damian, became the new Robin. Penciled by Tony and then inked by Ryan Winn on standard 11" X 17" art board.

Great layour with fabulous images of both hero and villain, but my favorite part are the fabulous inks, which I find nicer than Daniel's own inks or that of his usual inkers. Spectacular looking piece!
