Fables #8 page 15

I'm a big Boy Blue fan. I've always liked his character, his seemingly naiive way on the surface but also battle damaged soul (see The Last Castle). Blue to me is the classic hero trying to hide behind a happy go lucky attitude but when it comes down to it, not afraid to do what must be done.

The dialog and Blue twirling his trumpet really make this page for me. Being an early issue (before March of the Wooden Soldiers and Homelands) it's still pretty easy to dismiss Blue as the Jimmy Olson sidekick or comic relief character (though not on this page). Still a great page which I picked up from Mark Buckingham in Bristol 2005.
