DescriptionIvo Milazzo, copertina Ken Parker n 41. China e acquarello su cartoncino, cm 28x49.Ivo Milazzo was born in Tortona on the 20th of June in 1947 and he’s an Italian cartoonist. At a very young age he moves to Liguria. In 1973 he meets Giancarlo Berardi and creates with him the short story “Il Cieco” for “Horror” magazine of Sansoni. After this first meeting, they keep producing a big number of stories until 1974, year of the creation of a new character for “Collana Rodeo”, which contains reprints and new stories. The story gets published by Sergio Bonelli Editore. It’s “Ken Parker”, an introverted trapper who’s very alike the American actor Robert Redford. The character is so much liked by the editor that it becomes immediately a series with his name. From June 1977 to 1984 the story counts fifty-nine new releases. In the following years he collabs, always as a couple with Berardi, with the “Il Giornalino”, “Skorpio”, “Lanciostory”. The two create “Welcome to Springville”, “Tiki”, “Marvin il detective”, “Tom's bar” and the unfinished “Giuli Bai”. In 1985 with the ending of “Orient Express”, Berardi and Milazzo start a collaboration with “Comic Art”: from now on they can start working again on their old characters and keep releasing publications of “Ken Parker”. With the end of the Parker saga, Milazzo starts working again for the “Bonelli”. Between 1996 and 1998 the last new stories of the character Ken Parker get published. Right after he realizes some stories for Nick Raider and a special of “Tex” on Claudio Nizzi’s books in 1999, the first work of Milazzo alone after the end of the artistic partnership with Berardi. In the same year of the publishing of the “Texone”, he becomes a new member of the staff of the “Magico Vento” series, without leaving the western atmosphere until 2004. That year he leaves the Gianfranco Manfredi’s series to dedicate himself to independent projects such as “Impeesa - La grande avventura di Baden Powell”, written by Paolo Fizzarotti. In 2001 by collaborating with Paolo Fizzarotti he publishes an illustrated guide of Genova city entitled “Superbi Itinerari”. In 2010 he works on Fabrizio Calzia’s texts of the volume “Uomo Faber, graphic novel” dedicated to Fabrizio De André’s life. In 2014 he draws the graphic novel “Un Drago a forma di nuvola”, script by Ettore Scola, and published by BAO Publishing. As President of the “Associazione Autori d’Immagini” he has always promoted the defense of the copyright for the “Cinema di Animazione e il Fumetto”. Social/Sharing |
