Description

This may be the first original art I possessed. I was probably 15 at the time and just beginning my awareness of the creators behind the comics I read. My memory is very fuzzy but I think there was a promotional event at an amusement park. There were a number of illustrators (incuding Chic Young, Bud Sagendorf, John Romita and Curt Swan). Each artist sat on folding chairs with sketch pads and markers & would do a quick drawing for any youngster willing to wait. I got a Popeye sketch from Sagendorf, a Spider-Man face from Mr. Romita and this Superman sketch. They all were taped to my wall for years. Sadly, this is the only drawing that survived.
