I've taken a break from collecting art in 2020, to pursue, as they say, other interests. These have included getting back into comic book collecting - Silver Age DC, mostly - and a reawakening of the jones I've always had for cherry picking movies on home video, rekindled thanks to the magic of the Blu-ray format.

I saw this for sale in Wally Harrington's CAF, though, and kinda pined all over again for a painting I used to own. You know how it is. It's always cool to have a bit of cash on hand. But it's also a nice when an opportunity arises to welcome a strayed piece back into the collection.

In the late '70s, in a book store, I stumbled across Calendar Girls, by Michael Colmer, published by the Henry Regnery Company (1977). This was my introduction to the tasty calendar art of Britisher Archie Dickens.

For some reason, this breezy pin-up has always reminded me a bit of the cheesecake of Dave Stevens, especially the cute face which makes me smile. Très Chic was the title given to this by art dealer Marianne Ohl Phillips, who sold it to me decades ago.

Archie Dickens passed away in 2004. I believe this piece would've been done a handful of years before, as a commission for resale for Phillips. Read the Wikipedia entry for this delightful artist here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archie_Dickens

I think this is unpublished. But if anyone knows it was in either of SQP's twin collections of Dickens' work, please let me know.
