DescriptionPretty great mail call this morning with a lucky/funny story attached. I was looking through eBay last week and saw a piece for sale. I really liked the image but thought it was pretty rough to be the published cover. I asked Ankur J for his opinion. He agreed and said to reach out to Scott Kolins direct in fb. Scott responded a few days later and said yes it’s real but it is a prelim. I thanked him for the info and saving me some money .. then something funny happened . He said well I have the original and don’t usually sell covers but I would make an exception! I was surprised and delighted.. and now it’s mine! Sometimes things DO have a way of working out :) Congrats on picking this up! Really liking the linework throughout!

Nice cover, especially Phoenix! What a shame the colorist destroyed it for publication. Like a horrifyingly bad 1980's airbrush job. But that's precisely why original art is so great, we get to see the art as it's supposed to look, completely unmarred by bad coloring. A very serendipitous acquisition Jason, congrats!

Butcher job by the colorist... The linework is incredible on this.. all pencils too. I asked Scott and there was no inked version .. Published from the pencil inage. Thank you.

There's so little Marvel work by Kolins, which is too bad since clearly he has a knack for it. Awesome cover!
