DescriptionWilliam Galbraith Crawford, who signed his work "Galbraith", took over the duties on Side Glances from George Clark in 1939. This daily panel, done just four months after taking over for Clark, features a young boy and his mother at a wedding. The boy is being prompted to kiss the bride, to which he states, "Oh gee -- Do I have to kiss the bride? Isn't it enough that she got my brother?" Galbraith's drawing, done in ink and litho crayon, is typically beautiful, but the gag is what really makes this piece for me. I love the sweet innocence of the piece.Social/Sharing |
