Description
From a story called "Roadkill!" comes this fun 1993 cover --- it's one of two Secret Defenders covers that I am posting tonight.

My #1 favorite thing about this issue: Namorita figures out that the big baddie character Roadkill is committing his murders in a series of cities that all appear in the lyrics to the 1946 song "Route 66."

"Now you go through St. Looey, Joplin Missouri, Oklahoma City is so mighty pretty, you'll see ... Amarillo ... Gallup New Mexico ...Flagstaff Arizona, don't forget Winona ... Kingman, Barstow, San Bernadino" etc etc

Love that song, especially the Manhattan Transfer version of it, and I used to sing it myself quite a bit in piano bar settings.

My #2 favorite thing is that when Roadkill and his scruffy kitty sidekick Splatt steal a man's rig in the opening pages, they somehow transform it into a fiery blazing vehicle from Hell.
You can see the front of that demon truck on the cover image, and I have also attached a pic of the interior page where the transformation happens.

My #3 favorite thing is that Sleepwalker is on the cover. Sleepwalker is awesome.

I never bothered with this series, but I have to say, I LOVE that the writer tied a serial killer story into the lyrics to "Route 66", that's pretty cool!
