DescriptionBode's preliminary pencils for the cover of Capa-Alpha #47 (aka K-a 47), published Sept 1968 by Central Mailer and fandom legend Fred Patten. The finished piece was also used for the back cover of K-a 47. I've darkened the image a bit for visibility. While unsigned, it's pretty obvious this is Bode's work. There is another fully inked version on ComicArtFans. Also see published cover under "additional Images." From Wikipedia: CAPA-alpha (sometimes abbreviated to K-a) was the first amateur press association (APA) devoted to comic books, started by Jerry Bails (the "father of comics fandom") in the United States in 1964." Capa-Alpha discontinued it's monthly physical publication a few years ago, but still exists today as a digital publication, making it the longest running continuously comics-oriented APA!
