Frank Thorne - "Fireman, Burn My Child!", p. 1

A typically dark story by Michael Fleisher that's well suited to Frank Thorne's artistic skills. It's the cover story in House of Mystery #225 (June-July, 1974) and it's one that I remember well from my childhood.

The back of the page shows that it was put into inventory the year before. There's an unpublished introductory page drawn by Thorne that was used as the basis for #225's cover. It wouldn't have worked for the 100 page issue that the story appeared in as there was no room for a table of contents. It looks like the host is Eve, which would indicate that the story and the introductory page were intended for Weird Mystery Tales. Placing the title page I have on a light table shows that the same character appeared there. White paint was added so that Cain's face could be drawn over top.
