got this sketch from Darryl before he really "made it" he had just landed wikld wild west for millenium and I used that to book him for the akron-canton con. I had also booked tom and mary bierbaum who I'd known thru legion fandom for a long time but had never met in person. Darryl say me chumming with them and asked if I could help introduce him. so at diunner that evening I made sure we were all seaqted together. me, my employee, darryl his wife and tom and marry. I showed them the sketch and darryl had added this note in hopes of getting a job at dc. The promised to talk to their editor ( KC? waid? gold? I cant remember) any how they got him a pin up in the annual and darryl turned it around in 24 hours. impressed by his speed they contacted him when one of the artists blew deadline ( i think it was stuart immonen) and asked him to finish an issue that was in progress, darryl again turned it around really fast and shortly after was offered green lantern. So this sketch helped pave the way to kyle rainer
