DescriptionMy piece de resistance by Italian maestro Federico Mele! An amazing watercolour painting of Spider-Man swinging in New York City, which was also my briefing for Federico.Spidey is firmly placed in the foreground, contrasted by the sun shining over his shoulders & the Manhattan Bridge towering over him. The watercolouring is so incredibly nuanced and the scan hardly does this piece justice. The cherry on top is Federico mentioning that this is one of his favorites, as well. Federico - a big fan of Alex Maleev - also did a quick Photoshop edit and replicated Maleev's style for fun. A scan can be found in this post. He also gave me the prelim pencils - on a separate board. Size is an impressive 11x17 for both the prelim and the final painting. Funny sidenote: when I visited New York City some time ago for the first time, my hotel was right next to the Manhattan Bridge. So a fun piece of personal story in this commission, without even wanting it! Thanks, Federico! Proud to have it hang in my room, glad to call you a friend! Update of 1st of August 2022: Very glad to be able to share that this piece was published in Federico Mele's very first art collection book on his watercolour skills: "Colors & Lines Volume 1". Spectacular! Frederico is so, so good.
Absolutely! That he considers this one of his most impactful pieces of 2020, also speaks volume. There's something about that pose, the background, the lighting - in my opinion, this definitely has a timeless quality and I'm not seeing how Federico could do this one better in the future. When I try to find a "mistake", I spot something else that I really enjoy. Like the toes.

Stunning
I had the same reaction! I'm still in love with the battle-damaged Spidey Federico did for me, but pure on an "impressiveness" scale, this one wins!
