Description
Here's a really sweet page by the amazing combination of Ron Frenz & Joe Sinnott. I really dig how poor Cap takes a slight step back after Thor just gives him this look of rage like; "BACK OFF, I GOT THIS"!. You simply don't want to piss off a thunder god. Also, Thor swinging mighty Mjolnir swiftly, in a tight circle, then cutting loose, letting his URU hammer propel him skyward. Some classic stuff. Always an extra bonus when you score a page from a story that you remember so fondly. And this one was a most memorable ark. No doubt; Ron at his penciling best(*always an artist I feel was born too late. He would have stood proud amongst the rest of the silver age giants of the 1960s*). But then there's that incredible inking by the very best comic book inker who ever lived; Mr. Joe Sinnott. Joe was magic. He took the raw pencils, of any artist, and turned their humble panels into mini-masterpieces.
No matter who the penciler was, you ALWAYS knew that it was Joe Sinnott's mighty/ tight inks involved with the finished product. Thus, this is why I chose this particular page, showcasing
Joe's God-given talent. Further, most artists have a certain place in time where their art was considered at it's peak. This rule apparently never applied to Joe Sinnott. He was always at the top of his game. And I've always found it amazing. So now, upon reflection, I'm saddened to know what a comic book legend we all lost here on CAF, and beyond. I personally didn't comment on his recent passing. I chose to await this gentleman's birthday, rather to honor his life, instead of his death. But then, legends like this never really die. God blessed Joe with a great gift which he shared with all the rest of us. He sure was blessed, and in turn, so are we. And although we miss you, rest easy, Joe. And give Stan, Jack, & John our regards in that big Bullpen in the sky. God keep you always.

The casual eye will go right for the magnificent bottom panel (which is superb.) Yet the well read eye must go to panel two where Cap and Thor lock peepers. Cap not one to cede the reigns so easily but Thor's Uber intense grimace of barely contained rage let's Cap and the reader know Thor's going to do things his way. That kind of art tells a story that needs few if any words. It's safe to say Ron Frenz today stands among the giants of the comic art world. Then there is Joe who is beyond compare as an artist...simply the greatest inker of all time. To me his work never diminished with age. Happy Birthday and R I P Joe.

Gorgeous Thor page by Ron Frenz and Joe Sinnott. The two artists really mesh together well, as evidenced by that sweet second panel where Cap and Thor lock eyes like two junkyard dogs. Of course, they mesh equally well in Thor's fly away scene, but I really like the face off. Great pick-up!
