Superman Daily Strip September 26, 1942

This is one of the earliest Superman daily comic strip originals known to exist. It is number 1157, and it appeared with the caption "Turning On The Heat!" While it has been reproduced with the art attributed to Wayne Borning, I do not see anything of his hand in this piece. According to Alberto Becattini Jack Burnley did the Superman dailies from 10 March 1941 through 21 November 1942. Although the artwork for this piece doesn't look all that much like Burnley's work, as seen in a surviving Superman Sunday page from the early 1940s, I suppose it is possible that he was imitating Joe Shuster's style in this piece. All that I could safely say would be that it is from the Joe Shuster studio, perhaps with some participation by Shuster himself.
