Gasoline Alley Dailies beginning on 22 Oct 1934
I didn't bid on many of the "Afternoons and Saturdays Roller Skate Delivery Service" dailies from 1934 since they were sold through two separate auctions. The strips from the series which made the most sense and which established the continuity were largely in the second sale. After I discovered how much I liked the series while buying from that sale, it was too late to buy those other strips, which fill in the story, since they had already been sold in the prior auction. So, if anyone has an

William Henry Hunt, The Attack ans the Defeat, 1834
My ultimate desire. The artist painted the original watercolors with these subjects in 1833 and 1834. They are also privately owned in England, and I saw them in about 1999. That pair was exhibited at the Society of Painters in Water-Colours in 1834 as The Commencement and The Conclusion They were also the versions which were engraved. But they both are terribly faded, since they apparently have been on a wall in a sunny room for almost 200 years. The other, second versions, which I want so badly, were widely exhibited in England in the 19th century, and they were included in the important 1857 exhibition of the art treasures of Great Britain in Manchester. Most importantly they appear to be in great condition. This second set was auctioned in 1984 at Sotebys Belgravia, at a time when I was concentrating on collecting Disney animation art. They were expensive for that time, and I, stupidly, didn't even bid on them. I have been told that they were bought by an English dealer in
Inked Publicity Drawing for Winkin, Blinkin, and Nod
This and one other inked publicity drawings were sold as part of the Basmajian collection at Christie's East in New York City on December 8,, 1984. Although I was the underbidder on this drawing, I didn't pursue it to a huge price since it came up fairly early in the auction and I didn't know how high later items would cost. I believe that the late Bruce Hamilton won the drawing, but I have not heard a word about its later whereabouts.

Many years ago, I agreed to buy this strip from Jerry Weist. For some reason I lost contact with Jerry and we never completed the deal.
