Description
A dream comes true! This Watchmen page tells the origin of my favorite character Rorschach and one of the grisliest and memorable scenes from Alan Moore's ground-breaking graphic novel. A shocking act of vengeance made Rorschach the morally questionable vigilante he is today. Dave Gibbons's bold panels feature Walter Kovacs, psychologist Dr. Malcolm Long, Rorschach and his namesake inkblot-- as seen on the Watchmen #6 cover!

Walter Kovacs tells Dr. Long he was "soft" on criminals at first but that changed when he investigated the kidnapping of six-year-old Blaire Roche. He tracked her to an abandoned building in Brooklyn and quickly realized she had been killed and fed to two German Shepherds. Kovacs killed one of the dogs with a clever to the middle of its forehead, making a blood splatter like the Rorschach ink blot. Kovacs closed his eyes and when he opened them again, he was Rorschach.

"Dark as it gets" says it all.

Love the intensity in those last 6 panels. So direct. Kovacs finally telling it straight.

Oh wow, BIG congrats here. Historic yes, but just one of the best (and haunting) moments from the series. Kovacs closed his eyes and Rorschach's opened. And that last line truly does say it all. Whew. Congrats again, Dino!

My mind is split on this page.  The storytelling is magnificent.  Yet, it does it so well that I'm queasy.

Now that comment is as twisted as Rorschachs logic. Hopefully your mind is not as split as the dogs. Lol.

Something tells me that Gerald Grice is going to be dog meat after this page. It is such a memorable sequence, masterfully written and drawn.

That's a really dark page from the run. The composition is fabulous, with the interesting angles in the first tier, and some playfulness with where Rorshach is really looking in the last tier contrasted with the gaze of the dogs above. Beautifully executed.
