One of the inspired pioneers of the field, Rudolph Dirks drew the side-splitting antics of the The Captain and the Kids, off-and-on-again, until 1958, when he finally handed the strip over to his son, John. The Captain has literally caught the kids playing hooky! Mama, the Captain, a "Chiant", and the Inspector co-star in the mayhem.
