Description

Thor looks on as Loki dies. A pivotal scene from the series that brought the marvel trinity together after a long period of discord. This is also where Loki starts to become more of an anti hero than a villain ( when he comes back ! Ofcourse all characters come back !! Still this was an important moment. )

Truly cinematic! Any Coipel Thor piece is a grail to be achieved. Congrats on one that also tugs at the emotional strings!

And just like that... Loki’s gone...

Of COURSE he does’t stay gone - we all know that in the very moment we’re reading it - but the magic in comics comes from selling the truth of the moment moment, where we as readers think, “maybe this time... he/she IS gone...!” Between the writing and visual execution of this scene (I swear you can hear the echo fading into quiet in that last panel), you have a very real, very shocking moment for Thor (whose expression is beautifully rendered by Olivier, inarguably the definitive Thor artist of the modern era). I can’t remember off the top of my head if there are any word balloons on the published page, but it certainly doesn’t need any. I hope there aren’t any. Absolutely lovely! Congrats!
