DescriptionHeres another post showing that anything is possible and its good to stay optimistic in this hobby.Some time ago I came across a guy who stated he had a "1st appearance page of some Batman villain" by Breyfogle. I asked for a few scans which he sent right away. I was literally blown away (which seems to happen quite often now that I think about it) when I saw that it was the 1st appearance of one of my favorite Bat-villains! What followed was the classic "Im not sure if I want to sell and Ill keep you posted" line. The next day I wake up late in the afternoon with a few messages and a missed call from my good buddy James. Right away I knew this was an OA emergency! Apparently the owner decided to put it up publicly for sale without even giving me a heads up! James, knowing that Im kind of a Breyfogle fan and Im sort of a fan of Scarface, initiated the convo with the owner on my behalf. What followed was several weeks of back and forth between me and the owner. Eventually we were able to strike a deal but I still felt very uneasy. Ive had several occurrences where an owner flaked on a deal even after the virtual handshake. So in between my shifts I took a 500+ mile road trip to secure this page and the rest was history. While Breyfogle had a hand in introducing several Bat-villains who didn't make it to the A list, Scarface/Ventriloquist have stood the test of time and continue to appear in comics today. The character has appeared in the acclaimed BTAS as well as the TV series, Gotham and some video games. Im really humbled and honored to have a great page from Norm's legacy in the Batman universe. (Oh and I have to keep reminding myself that there's a cool image of Batman swinging on the top right panel too). Social/Sharing |

It's almost as if Breyfogle buried all his vintage art in a treasure chest before he passed and then gave you the map where the X marks the spot! Another great Breyfogle piece! Might this be the start of calling you Breyfogle Man?

You ARE Breyfogle Man! Major congrats on getting a significant 1st appearance Batman villain page. That is no small feat. I know you have had some bad experiences with deals going awry, so I'm thrilled you were able to grab this one ...and you only had to travel 500+ miles! Sheesh, nothing is easy, right? Congrats!!

There's some commitment, bud, I love it! Not hard to see why. What a way to introduce this wacky awesome character - or characterS I should say :) Can't beat first appearance pieces and when the nostalgia factor is high, too?! Oooh the combo can't be beat. Lovin' those last 2 panels. And Bats up top is nice bonus. Congrats!
