DescriptionMars was a limited series published by First Comics in the early 1980s, created by Marc Hempel and Mark Wheatley. It was oddball and truly alternative. As Wheatley explained in an interview, ""It was the result of a combination of Marc's and my styles and interests which are rather wide and diverse. We were able to create a series that was both serious, heavily researched science fiction, but had a Dr. Seuss/Popeye/Krazy Kat visual context." That goes a long way toward explaining why I liked it. This art is not from the series; rather it's the cover to Amazing Heroes #33, October 1983, that carries a long interview with Hempel and Wheatley.Social/Sharing |

Great cover! I always loved Mars. First bit of original art from the series (even if AH) I've seen.
