DescriptionNot normally a page I would go after, except that it rang loudly as a page from my youth when I saw it.X-Factor #91 was one of the first books I got, and from all places PRICE CLUB (the warehouse before it became COSTCO). At this time in my youth, I wasn't much of a collector of comics or had much interest in digging too deep. The family was heading for summer road trip and I wanted to get something to read on the way. I picked up a Price Club made sampler pack of Marvel Comics. It's how I was introduced in the early 90's to something that has greatly influenced my life, as a collector (comics and art) and career (film/tv production, working in VFX on comic book movies). The pack included various books from a few X-Titles and Avengers (around the Bloodties era). One of the books in this initial pack was X-Factor #91. It was one of the early introduction/puzzle pieces that led me to my X-MEN obsession on many levels. This page from Jan Duursema (pencils, who wasn't formally credited from the Joe Quesada art and Scott Lobdell story) and Al Milgrom (inks) is a really playful element in the X-Factor sagas. These three characters together (Havok, Strong Guy and Wolfbane) sing what X-Factor during the 90's is all about. It's big fight scenes (filled with cool mutant powers), mixed with fun banter and ultimately tragic endings. This page being a prime example of what I love the most about the X-MEN and related series. Social/Sharing |
