DescriptionOne of the most memorable stories of my youth is the NTT two-parter "Runaways" that ran from issue 26-27. Writer Marv Wolfman took a cue from DC publisher Jenette Khan and decided to do a "social issues" story about troubled youth who run away from home. He visited a runaway shelter in New York for research. On this page Raven brings shaken and hungry runaway Lizzie to Cyborg's apartment for a much-needed meal. Such great facial expressions and emotion drawn on the page by artist George Perez who was really hitting his stride with the series at this point. George signed this on his farewell tour a couple years ago and I was able to tell him in person what the story meant to me. Social/Sharing |
