New Teen Titans #26 p 15

One of the most memorable stories of my youth is the NTT two-parter "Runaways" that ran from issue 26-27. Writer Marv Wolfman took a cue from DC publisher Jenette Khan and decided to do a "social issues" story about troubled youth who run away from home. He visited a runaway shelter in New York for research.

On this page Raven and Cyborg take runaway Lizzie to a shelter where they encounter DA Adrian Chase. Chase would go on to become The Vigilante only a few issues later. Lots of dialogue here but you can't miss the fantastic pacing and characterizations of artist George Perez as he takes us through the shelter. George signed this on his farewell tour a couple years ago and I was able to tell him in person what the story meant to me.
