Item description: 2008, Skrulls grow their own versions of Reed Richards and Black Bolt ComicLink Comments: This Jim Cheung art from the "Secret Invasion" crossover event was used as a second print cover to New Avengers #40 (2008) and was used in that issue's story as a double page splash on pages 16 and 17. We see members of the Skrull royal family in a laboratory where they are creating Skrull versions of Reed Richard, Black Bolt and others. Cheung has been one of the top artists at Marvel for over a decade now and works like this one are always in high demand but rarely come up for public auction. With the Skrulls being introduced to a worldwide movie audience starting March 8th in the huge Captain Marvel movie, it has brought attention to many of the key appearances of the nasty, shape-changing aliens first introduced way, way back in Fantastic Four #2 (1/62). A decade ago the Skrulls were the lead baddies in the huge Secret Invasion crossover where it was revealed that several well known Marvel characters had actually been Skrulls in disguise, sometimes for several years.
