Description
I'm very happy to add another "ink-painted" cover by Massimo to my collection and I have to thank again a fellow CAF member for a flawless transaction: thanks a lot, Stefano!
Dago is pictured in an unusually static and pensive pose (but he's still holding his sword) and the whole composition gives the image a very evocative feel.
This piece was published twice:
- in Jan. 2005, as the cover of the issue #12 (Anno X) of the Italian regular series, featuring the story titled "Il Giovane Maestro" (The Young Master);
- in Jan. 2020, as the cover of the issue #49 of the recent reprint "Dago: I Monografici" (in color, with two stories per book).

Dago was created by Robin Wood & Alberto Salinas and first published in 1980 by Editorial Columba (Argentina).

(pen and ink on artboard, roughly 12"x 16,5" - initialed)

A wonderful example to draw three-dimensional. Carnevale shows here a fantastic technic how to show space.

Wonderful cover!  All the textures and surfaces are indicated so beautifully, and the big shapes are so well composed
