Description
Finally posting some preliminary pencil and color blocking artwork from Mike Vosburg's Uncanny X-Men Annual #13 (I purchased pages 23 through 28 a few years ago), written by Terry Austin.

These art pages come from a really fun body swap storyline where X-Men Dazzler swaps bodies with Diamondback from the Serpent Society. Some of my favorite X-Men appear during this odd exchange between the two factions (Psylocke in her mask and cape messing with the minds of her enemies, action packed Storm, lucky Longshot and displaced Dazzler doing dizzying displays).

I really enjoyed seeing the early art process with side notes from Terry, likely thought never to be seen outside the publishing offices (especially when he gently reminds Mike to make sure Longshot only has 3 fingers [1 thumb] on each hand). I personally love that attention to proper character detail, people telling the stories and drawing the art that really know these characters in and out.

For Vosburg's preliminary art, it's pretty fantastic, I really enjoy the simple but expressive linework, character expressions and seeing their powers come to life. Dazzler's presence of power is so beautifully done as she interacts with the Serpent Society, Psylocke's psychic aura is powerful, Storm is sleek and graceful as she deals with their enemies, while Longshot is comically unaware of his folly that foils his fiends. I also really enjoyed seeing the color blocking, what brought me to these pages where the Psylocke pink that prominently perforates these pages.

Such a fun find for a fan of X-Men art, so happy to have and hold in my humble art collection.

Great selection of prelims. I love to see these and am a big fan of Voz's work.
