Pretty spectacular. Love the Spidey, of course. And yes, Kwan is one of the coolest guys in the hobby.
Baller.
Guess who was just announced as a Lake Como participant -- stars with a C, ends with a L, middle name is Visionary. : ) Congratz on this masterwork, my bud!
Thank you, Steve! Lake Como, eh? Huh... first I'm hearing about it... :)
Holy crap, this is awesome. Agreed with Eric, love Spidey showing off.
Much like EF Hutton, when Cap talks, people listen. I love the attention to detail that Coipel and Morales devoted to each individual character. Even the few busts at the edges got all the detail they need to not fade into the background. And I dig the living room meeting. It reminds us that they're all people, with real lives, too, and sometimes they just have meetings in "regular" places. Of course, it could be a living room in Avengers mansion or the Sanctum Santorum, but my point stands. Coipel is as you say, one of the shooting stars of this generation of artists. His style is clean, gorgeous, and unmistakable. And Morales is an extraordinary inker. Great pick up, Jason. Big congrats!
Thanks as always, J H. Yeah, the assemblage of characters here is (of course) striking, but I loved the MOMENT... Just as you say, Cap speaks and everyone is paying close attention (even Nick Fury, who appears to be pouting a bit - or lost in a reverie - because he's not calling the shots). This moment was sort of the "turning point" between the 'Dark Reign' and 'Heroic Age' events, where the heroes are finally reassembling to make their stand against Norman Osborn (after the invasion of Asgard). There's a weight to it, but also a sense of things getting back on track, moving forwards. And as far as the "living room meeting" vibe - totally. I get obsessed sometimes with the "shipping pallet" table Cap has there, but you gotta have something good to prop your foot on when you have lots of guests and need to look cool. It'll do in a pinch! Thanks for your great comment, J H (and all)!
Fantastic page! Congrats
Boy, you're really making a habit of this "trading two nickels for a dime" aquisition strategy, Jason! But it's as I've always told people, sometimes you just have to be willing to give up something great to get something else that's great. It's a beautiful piece, but I can't be the only one who sees Jim Cheung when he looks at this piece, can I? I didn't look at the credits and I actually thought it was a Cheung piece, especially as the right side of this piece caught my eye. Of course, both are modern masters, so it's an honour for both men's work to be compared to each other!
Ha! Thanks, Ruben. More like trading "a dime for two nickels" (wait - am I doing this backwards?), but your point (and advice!) is well-taken. I can absolutely see the Cheung touches (especially in the Young Avengers characters), and really love them (and I completely agree that the comparison between the two artists does credit to them both). Thank you, Ruben (and everyone) for your comments!
Full metal magnifico! Hamgout Spidey is a scene stealer for me but the surgical nature of detail is something biblical here. Congrats on your latest gem amongst many!
That's a good one! And thanks for the kind words.
Excellent Coipel double splash. Quite crowdy here but Spidey,Ms Marvel & Cap steal the show. And you even got some background in it, which is not always easy with Olivier's art ;)
Fantastic! Really a joy to look at thanks for sharing!
Ohh, there it is. Prime example of Coipel and Morales's work. So many characters featured with so much work poured into each. Love that it's clear that Cap's leading the discussion with him facing one way and literally everyone else facing him. Ronan and Mockingbird look so nicely detailed, with the former standing out with so many block blacks. And that Spidey at the top right is almost out of frame, adding depth. Killer all around! Congrats, Jason!
Thank you, K, very much. Yeah - there's so much texture here, I just sort of find myself falling into it... As well as the characters and costumes, the shadows on the floor beneath Cap, the furniture, the walls, the bookcase... I really love the balance of it, and what is kept light and assigned darkness... it's just FUN to look at. Thanks again, K (and everyone)!
Special events call for a special event artist. Coipel proved he could handle the grandest and most majestic legends during his run on Thor and he quickly rose to be the go to artist for the annual Marvel universe crossover. This full on hero gathering DPS would be the one force to put Norman Osborn and Dark Avengers out of commission and restore the place of the true heroes.
Wow, that's pretty much everyone! This one belongs in a museum!!!
Jason, your collection growing faster than light :-) Congratulation, awesome piece by an Olivier Coipel at his best.
I love how Coipel drew up Spidey
Beautiful dps by a great tandem. Must be a treat to pore over all the fine details of each character
Very impressive. Coipel is one of the few that can make a big group of stationary figures look so cool.
Wow! This double-page spread is simply too amazing!
love the details in this !!!
Just outstanding!!!
Yes indeed, an old master added to by that Morales magic. Couldn't have put it better myself.
WAOOOOHHHHhhhh !!!
( evrything smarter has been already said in previous comments )
Wow! What a packed page! Love how Cap commands the room here. There are some terrific postures and poses in this composition too. Love Spider-Woman, Ms. Marvel, Luke Cage, and Spidey. Congrats on this gem.
One hell of a dps! Congrats!
A jam-packed DPS with a bunch of Avengers (and adjacent folks), and yet it doesn't feel crowded. And seconding the shout-out for the Mark Morales inks- they really bring out the best of Olivier's work. Congrats on the pickup!
it seems, i blinked and your already mighty art collection has hit the stratosphere! Wow!.. amazing piece.. so jelly
