DescriptionJ. Campbell Cory (1867-1925) was a political cartoonist for Joseph Pulitzer's New York World. Cory was also the older brother of the wonderful cartoonist/illustrator Fanny Cory. On the side, Cory worked with Syd Griffin and Louis Dalrymple at the old New York School of Caricature, which began in 1901.This political cartoon is from 1902 and appeared in the New York World. It features a beautiful portrait of Uncle Sam, who is bragging to John Bull about his real estate purchases and conquests.
