Description
Miss Hanna of the Barbara Hanna Detective Agency contemplates a huge diamond displayed at the circus to be guarded by a Black Lightning impersonator on this page from BL's first series. "Barbara Hanna" was writer Tony Isabella's not-so-subtle dig at DC for not giving him royalties to use Black Lightning on the Saturday-morning Hanna-Barbera cartoon, "Super-Friends." Now you know why the character Black Vulcan was created and why this was Tony's last issue as writer.

Love this early work from Trevor Von Eeden who was only 16-17 years old when he penciled this issue from DC's first solo title to feature an African-American hero. Vince Colletta doesn't get a lot of love from fans but I actually like his fine-pointed inking style here.
