DescriptionI was speaking with another collector about music based art and how my collection runs particularly Bowie deep as he is/was a favorite of my wife's. Throughout our marriage my appreciation for him continues to grow and Bowie themed piece also make for great compromises in OA expenditures! If you haven't read the comic/GN I'd highly recommend it - it's a labor of love that takes you through Bowie's rise and transformations in epic style. Laura Allred on colors is perfect (as always). This particular, glorious, full page illustration of Bowie where he belongs (A. anywhere he damn well pleases, and B. the stars) is just perfect. The value of the piece is enhanced by the circumstance under which it was acquired. Now, I saw the ravings of some lunatic the other day on CAF going off on some mystic bond that transcended time and space to land a VD in his lap. I don't know about that - sounds like somebody's been macrodosing at work. I'll simply say that a real gentleperson gifted this to me in a completely unexpected, and overly generous gesture. I will be forever grateful! Social/Sharing |

One would expect a different Ziggy when talking about comic art.

Nice pull. I haven't thought of Ziggy in decades. Poor guy. He just didn't make it, did he?

As a big fan of both Bowie and Allred, this was an incredible project for me. An excellent piece, ML. I listened to a pretty lengthy interview with Mike where he talked a lot about his likeness of Bowie and how it changes from image to image and I though how oddly appropriate that was, given the subject's frequent transformations.

Outstanding piece, M, and definitely fits your collection. Love how the planets/moons progressively get closer to the reader. And it's a realistic portrait BUT still so clearly Allred. Congrats, man!

I'm Mikailer Moonstruck, and that admiration deserves the Spaceman.
