An absolute classic! Stunning in its execution and an even better image than you'd find on many of the Dredd series covers. I've always loved Amazing Heroes too, so that's a bonus for me. Congrats, Malvin!

Could this cover get any more Bolland? He really did blow the door open to the American market. I love this cover for so many reasons, not the least of which is the awesome art. Bolland Dredd was the perfect mix of sublime art, satire, and ultra-violence. You got yourself a gem! Huge congrats!

I bought that issue on the newsstand and read it cover to cover. I really miss Amazing Heroes.

There is an interesting story about this cover. At I think the second Chicago Comicon (1977), Mike Gold got wind that Brian was going to be in New York to show his portfolio to DC comics right before the con. Chicago and Milwaukee both had stores that were selling 2000 AD from the first issue on in large quantities for a relatively unknown British series A lot of us were fans.. Mike and myself somehow convinced the con owners (who paid the bills - we just worked part time on it) to pay for Brian to be a guest of the show (airfare and a room). So he set up and I had I think the second or third sketch reserved after a nice talk with him. Then Denis Kitchen roped him into the Spirit Jam and instead of  doing the sketches Brian did his section of the jam. I told him not to worry just send me the sketch of Dredd when he had time. Many years later a package came from fantagrpahics with this cover which decades later  I reluctantly traded a couple of years ago for a Black Mask cover painting by Norman Saunders! (and shortly thereafter got a Bolland piece that more matches my current interests).  I miss the cover but it was part of one of those truly amazing experiences with an artist.

This was also on my CAF for maybe 10 years with very few comments!

Phenomenal Brian Bolland Judge Dredd cover! Done for Amazing Heroes magazine, this cover depicts Dredd opening the door to the American market (Represented by a door painted with the American flag) for an invasion of British comics, British artists and writers. This fabulous full-figure image of Judge Dredd is drawn by British superstar Brian Bolland, who built his career in Britain drawing Dredd for 2000 AD, and later Judge Dredd magazine. It's a drop dead gorgeous drawing of Dredd from his smoking gun, Lawgiver, to his iconic helmet. His leather uniform is accentuated with massive shoulder pads, a utility belt and heavy leather boots. You won't find very many Brian Bolland Judge Dredd covers better drawn  than this.

Nice cover, with beautifully clean and confident lines from Bolland. The scorching bullet hole around the door lock is a nice touch.

I'd buy that for a dollar!
