Description

Ed McGuinness is one of those artists that often surprises me with the variations in the design of his covers. He has once again with this cover. A simple composition of a figure in an almost classic pose (think Statue of Liberty) with no background. Simple but beautiful. I love the lack of a real costume, street clothing except perhaps the gloves with only the X on the shirt to remind you that she is one of the X-Men.

The chose of Dazzler for a variant cover of the Ultimatum series is a bit of a puzzle. She never appears in the series and is only mentioned in passing as one of the numerous fatalities from the unnatural disasters that occur at the start of the story arc.

Agreed! Beauty in simplicity. Dazzles is to me an underappreciated member of the team. Maybe that's why Mcguinness pucked her for this wonderful spotlight? Either way, congrats!

Love the use of light and how the glow works from the top on down and placement of shadows. Strong figure work as usual for McGuinness.

Since it's 2009, spoilers shouldn't be an issue. Shes dead Jim. She dies in this issue. Confirmed in Ultimate X-Men 98.
