An absolutely stunning ORIGINAL OIL painting by Leroy Neiman. (**Please Note most Leroy Neiman art available on the market are only limited edition prints and serigraphs). The piece offered here is one of his ORIGINAL OILS. The artwork is from his Animal and Big Cat series, some of his most coveted and sought after works. This vibrant piece was rendered in oil on a Masonite panel which is spectacularly presented framed in the original Hammer Gallery frame with few tiny nicks. The completed frame size is 24″h x 19″w. Neiman’s large original oils sell at auction for upward of $125,000. His smaller pieces such as this one, sell at auction in the $19,000 and up range – however we have not even seen one offered in this preferred Neiman genre of his “Animal and Cat” series. We acquired only two individual Panther pieces, once they are gone they are gone. These were originally framed together and had first sold in 2007 at Hammer Galleries for $40,000 for the pair. PROVENANCE: The art was acquired from a leading collectibles auction house who vetted the artwork. The full chain of custody includes originally being sold in 2007 by Hammer Galleries for $20,000 per panel (2 panels were sold originally together as a pair for $40,000), later acquired by a leading Neiman Gallery in Las Vegas, and then offered via auction by a leading collectibles auction house who vetted the artwork. Included with the art will be a copy of the invoice and lot description, in addition to an email from the auction house identifying the origin of the piece.
LeRoy Neiman is the most famous and successful artist in America and possibly, the world. For forty years he has criss-crossed the globe, documenting in sketches and in paint the extraordinary people, places and events that have dominated world media. No artist is as universally famous and collectible as LeRoy Neiman. In 1996, Columbia University in New York inaugurated the LeRoy Neiman Center for Print Studies on its Manhattan campus – a fitting tribute to the master of the contemporary serigraph, whose graphics have become collectors’ items the world over.
