DescriptionLois goes She-hulk!Curt Swan is well known for his long run of drawing Superman and this Splash is just a great example. For a long time I wanted a Swan Supes and while there are ton of amazing ones out there, this one works for me. For his part Bob Oksner is also a brilliant artist, but here acting as the inker. Attached the cover art by Nick Cardy. I wonder if anyone looking here, can tell us in the comments if the cover was drawn first and this splash came 2nd or was the splash drawn first. The images are almost identical, but differentiated by the artist's styles. Social/Sharing |

Superman in a stranglehold is fun to see, but that image of The Man of Steel blasting out of his "S" chest emblem is just awesome!
Congrats D !

Finally, someone says it! You're on notice, Lois. Two Supermen, three S logos and the Supes logo on top? Now that is a Swan title splash! Oskner did a great job inking, too. 70s Superman fun. Congrats!

What came first, the chicken or the egg? Either way, delicious piece!

Lois has been waiting for that ring on her finger for too long and she has had it. She got a hold of that Charles Atlas ad that made a man out Mac and started on a course of horse hormones and roids. The only thing that will save Superman are Martha or pleading poverty to show he can not financially support her. The Oksner inks for the figures and the great effect of bursting energy are some fine sizzle over the juicy steak that Swan served up on a monthly basis!

People often overuse the cover scene verbiage, but this is truly a cover scene worthy piece. Whoa.

The cover is ALWAYS done first. She appears to be attempting a rear naked choke on him, while simultaneously going for a stand up kimura. WTF is she doing? Definitely a white belt! Oh, you really need to teach me how to present my art as beautifully as you do, as I can never get my images to look this bad no matter how hard I try! 😃
Oh, and I don't want to hear it. GET A SCANNER!

I am only replying so anyone reading your comment wont think I am offended. Ha ha. Thanks for the tough love Mr. Da. I was actually proud of the image but you set me straight. Ha ha.

Hah! I've given many collectors "the business" about art presentation over the years, most recently my bud Jordan, and I say this in all seriousness, everyone who listened and eventually got themselves a large format scanner ended up being so happy they made the decision, and they loved it so much after learning how to use it, that most of them had fun scanning their entire collections and replacing all the old camera images in their CAF galleries! Jordan is the next guy in line to do that. I just need to speak to his wife and tell her to drag him out to Best Buy on a weekend when they're not working, so he doesn't let the idea drag on too long. 😀

Wow, I'll agree with the text off to the left --- Superman and Lois's relationship has DEFINITELY suddenly taken a drastic turn. Tremendous title splash of a hulked-out Lois taking on the Man Of Steel. And yeah, that logo of Superman flying out of his chest emblem is fantastic.

I'd be down to read a series about a hulked out Lois! This has got great Swan art and I'm a sucker for Oksner inks. This is a really fun piece! Huge congrats!

Lois has had enough! You won't like her when she's angry :) Really like how you got 2 Supes images in this title splash, one soaring and one that will surely be sore after this. OK, that was a stretch. Congrats, man!

I agree re: cover art being drawn first. Also, there was a period where every Action Comics or Superman cover usually had our hero getting his butt kicked. I'm a big fan of Bob Oksner in general. And Swan / Oksner is my favorite combination on Superman for this time. I don't recall how the rest of the book appears but I have to say this image doesn't have Oksner's usual polish. But that's OK since it the hulked out Lois doesn't seem to care about appearing "lady like" and Superman surely has more important things on his mind. Finally, my favorite artist, Nick Cardy, never drew a Superman story. But if he did, I'm sure it would've been amazing.

Brilliant splash! That was a very early comic in my own collection as a kid, probably rhe first Superman I bought. The cover and title page knocked me out - and still do! I'm so pleased to see the art survived. Great find!

This is easily one of the most memorable Superman comics of my youth, and it's kinda gained mythic stature in my head over the years, congrats!!
