Milestone Comics - February 1994

One more 90's art post before Hardware Season One #1 hits the shelves of local comic shops August 10, 2021. This one comes from penciller Rich Buckler who only worked on two issues of Hardware. Some great panels Hardware and Harm who crossed over just in time to join the good guys just prevent global genocide. I really love those textures Rollins created with the inks.

Interesting fact: Hardware co-creator, Denys Cowan was Rich Buckler's assistant in the 80's when they were working at DC. Cowan first met Bill Sienkiewicz there. Cowan and Sienkiewicz recently worked together to create the interiors for Hardware Season One #1 almost forty years later!

Speaks 90's with that costume. Chains, pouches, head gear, rocket pack, ski glasses, grit of the teeth... It's so familiar that you wonder if they are setting or following the trend to fit in with the pack. The action though is slam bang as Buckler uses a lot of the big 2 experience to present two big in your face panels. Milestone took big swings and big risks every outing!

Ha! So true. Now I'm wondering if that was a checklist to be able to use Marvel stock at that time, as I just noticed this was done on Marvel stock. Dare I ask... what is the side, underarm pouch hold? Buckler really brought the great action and flow here.
