By all reports, gangbusters business for art and comic books as this takes place in SDCC's usual time slot.  Not surprised that lines would be long with Sienkiewicz's enthusiasm matching the fans longing for a convention.  Very nice that he took the time for this excellent remarque!

Beautiful Warlock sketch, Mikail. But, was the idiotic way the "perusing Bill's art" was handled the responsibility of Torpedo, or Bill's handlers?

I'd say Torpedo, and one of the con handlers somewhat admitted to me as much, that there had been some miscommunication about some aspects of the line. Main issue was that the line was off the con floor, segregated in an area where there was nothing. (Imagine the tier of a theatre where you enter and there are no seats, but where the bar might be). One only got to approach the table when Bill was working on the person directly ahead of you in line. So you only had that small window (about 5 min per remarque + 1 or 2 of shit chat). On top of that his table was very small, so you could easily browse the boxes of sketches. There was literally no place to put the art that was on top of the pile while one dug deeper.

Yeah, that sounds shitty. Once at a NYC show, I went to artist alley because I wanted to see what art Mark Bagley had for sale. When I got there, I saw a long ass line snaking around the aisles. Everyone was holding something in their hands, so I figured all of them just wanted to get things signed. Since I had no interest in getting anything signed or ewven chatting with Mark, I didn't feel it was necessary to get into the line and I wouldn't have even if I was told I had to. So I walked right up to the table , stood iun front of the 2 stacks of art he had off to the side that nobody was looking at, and simply asked if it was okay to look through the art. Mark joked "That' what it's there for!", so I went ahead and looked. That's exactly as it should be. People interested in buying original art should not have to get into a long line of autograph seekers and wait hours for the line to dwindle before they can look at the art available for sale. As for organizers, they should also be aware that artist guest who are considered legends in the industry should be accorded the respect that entails, and that includes giving them more table space than the other guests, especially if they aare artists like Bill, who tend to work in mixed media and have tons of tools they need to place on the table, on top of whatever merchandise they may also have for sale.

It was sub-optimal but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and hopefully there is a better system in place next year. Overall fun show and I'll definitely make a day trip again next year as it was rrlatively easy for me.
