DescriptionI freed this from the frame it was in to let it breathe and gas out. You know who else was also freed? It is 10.5” x 36” long. It has 10 layers of hand painted cels with a painted background. One of the cels extends past the background to the right. Can anyone in animation tell me what this is and why it’s this size? No vinegar smell, but I would not accept a drink from it either. Social/Sharing |

Wow. That's so old school. Brings me back to the late 80s.

Wow! KC! This is a full pan cel. Very rare! Don't let it lick your toes or Bauer you.

Both are running around free, making it even scarier!

Also saw you have the original master background. Man some of these dudes look like they were in the classic Cheech and Chong video Basketball Jones.

As an animation expert, I can tell you that this extra long cel was used because depending on what time of day it was and therefore whether or he had already scarfed down his customary box of Jello Pudding Pops, they didn't know if a regular sized cel would be large enough to contain Albert's belly!

I love that you listed the artist as Factory Drone. I would write a longer comment but I have to go clock into the factory since my shift is about to start. Please don't tell the foreman I'm looking at art again!

It was a topic on Youtube collector conversations about the unknown and unidentified people who toil away in a warehouse painting in cels. Are they the artists who do all the work like the Unknown Soldier or are they painting by numbers?

Those folks are definitely artists as not everyone could paint cels. But, the colors are chosen ahead of time, so they are following a template. Gotta go clock back in now! =)

What an amazing cel! The color is so vivid, as are the characters.

The art, and it is art, is amazing. The colors are so bright and the classic design of the characters forces (perhaps not the right word) me to smile. But, as your very own jokes allude, from a nostalgia perspective, this one is... complicated.
