Harry Tuthill - Bungle Family - 1929 Sunday Page

There's nothing better than a Bungle Family Sunday page that's set in the Sunken Arms Apartment building! George could never get along with his neighbors, as is shown in this wonderful hand-colored page from 11/17/29. Tuthill frequently used blowhard characters (besides George himself, I mean), and Bullwinkle fits the bill nicely in this strip. The first line in the strip sets the stage nicely, as Bullwinkle's wife states, "Yes, Bullwinkle would've made a wonderful lawyer. He loves to argue about anything. He's always borrowing books from lawyers. We have a basement full of them." This late 20s stuff was Tuthill's prime period, especially in terms of the writing. This example shows that nicely.
