DescriptionLegends of the Dark Knight #130 (June 2000) original cover painting for "The Arrow and the Bat Part 4: Pursued". This 5 story arc spanning issues 127 - 131 was a rare crossover featuring Oliver Queen as Green Arrow and Bruce Wayne as the Dark Knight. This painting (and all 5 for this story) was done by master painter Hugh Fleming. The theme of this story is one of paranoia that Ollie feels, and the cover captures this beautifully. The images are almost haunting and yet photorealistic in Hugh's style (those eyes are just creepy!). The lighting and shadows are perfectly placed, and the color tones chosen also exhibit the paranoia that Ollie is experiencing. Hugh is quite the perfectionist and was not happy with some minor imperfections from storage and age, so he did some minor touch ups prior to shipping it to me. The painting is signed from when he did in 2000 in the lower right corner. Accomplished in acrylics on Bainbridge Board Number 80, with dimensions of 15" wide by 22.75" high. I also was fortunate to work with a CGC facilitator so that Hugh could sign the published book and allow me to get the yellow signature series label. As of today, this is the only CGC copy period for this book, also making it the only Signature Series copy!Social/Sharing |

For an offshoot series, they sure put a lot of effort to make it the most classy title of any of them with these high end paintings.
