Missed this book when it was out but dig Allred's super signature style. This page showcases his approach beautifully.

Craving some swiss cheese at the moment. You can Count on Allred to make a Monte Cristo masterpiece with just the right ingrdients and tonal work that he has mastered since his Madman days of offbeat and outside of time and space adventures. Surfer is so distinctive in his smooth movement through the story.
