That establishing wide shot is amazingly accomplished with Mignola's style. The ghostly figures in the foreground have loose shapes that hold nothing but essence of who they once were. The bottom panels are closeups where Hellboy sees through them and gets an anatomy lesson.

Fabulous page! Love how it transitions from the sweep of the opening shot to the extreme close-ups at the bottom. I'm a huge fan of Mignola's late Hellboy phase with super loose abstract shapes that are somehow still perfectly controlled.
