DescriptionMild Spoiler AlertIf you're reading this series, you just know that in issue #9 the Parasite is going to be causing some problems. When I received the pages to this issue, this definitely stood out as the creepiest, scariest one. To my simple eye it's a love letter to the Wrightson era and ethos. Painstaking work to develop layers, contrast and depth - and then in the close shot some terrifying detail. Social/Sharing |

My eyes are feasting on this page the way that Swampy is feasting in the bottom panel. So many great details to soak in!

Amazing visual delight! The full dimensional scene is eerie and pulls you into a world of intimate culinary experience. The primordial ambiance places you in a peaceful and gritty reality unlike any trip to the French Laundry or Dennys could provide. The tasting menu is served raw from the natural waters of its environment to ensure freshness and authenticity of farm to table without processing. Every bite gives you a taste of the gristled meat texture for you to savor with gusto. Paired with the natural swamp waters, all the senses are alerted including your flight response. For this I reward 3 Michelin Stars and I can't wait to invite all of you to dine here again with more sumptuous Perkins artwork. The gutteral response is genuine from all the people I know.
A reminder that the act of eating is a common and traditonally shared experience between friends. "Great food. Great friends."

Perkins skills on full display. Textures, depth, and such a strong sense of atmosphere. Another winning ST page, M L. Congrats!

That final panel is astounding. I mean the whole page is amazing. Perkins is really upping his game with this book.

You already know this is my favourite page in this issue! It's like we're peering out the window and we can see the dank, thick, humid atmosphere of the forest, deep into the distance, while in the middle ground something bizarre catches our eye. It appears to be a large humanoid form. Is it bending over? What the f$@! is it doing, exactly? Don't make a sound, it might hear us!
Pan down to that extreme closeup of the horrifying abomination that appears to be feeding on something, and now it's time for us to close the blinds and go back into hiding...But first, I gotta get out of these clothes I've soaked through!

Tastes like chicken. Wow, Perkins took the cinematic horror to 11 here. I swear, it's like he's drawing a movie. I adore his work on this series, it's a perfect match. The white borders is a very nice touch, too. Great page. Congrats!

Absolutely astonishing, M L. You know, there are pieces I see that are incredible pieces, and pieces I see that I absolutely cannot comprehend that they were once blank, white pieces of paper, such is the utter transformation they have gone through (on what must be an atomic level :) ). This is in that latter category, without question, as somewhere along the way Mr. Perkins seems to have bypassed some primal rule of two-dimensional paper and imbued this thing with a 'z-axis' to allow such depth and dimension (thanks to the white paint, gray wash, and impeccable inkwork). It would not surprise me if you could reach into this page at least a couple of inches, or if light would fall into it to better illuminate the shadows from inside the page... And while that thought undoubtedly helps to justify this amazing purchase, it might also make it harder to sleep at night, knowing that that means the person on this page could just as easily step OUT of it... :) Absolutely gorgeous piece!
Congrats on this amazing addition to your incredible collection, M L! (and, uh, sleep well! :) )
