Description

A beautifully drawn splash page by Mort Meskin. For my collection something different. The great line work and beautiful images added with black background grabbed me.

It also once belonged to the collection of Ethan Roberts. I fondly remember visiting his home on my first trip to the US. He showing me art from his collection and I remember him showing me art by Mort Meskin aswell. And with great admiration telling me about his work. Fond memories.

A magical piece! The lineup of historical beauties in the modern day big city is a thing of daydreams! Even the alley cat is at full alert.

Actually, I bought the complete storyrom George Roussos in 1977.
Sold to Ethan Robert's in 1979.
Pages were sold and I bought the splash. I then consigned the splash to Heritage when I sold my art collection a couple years ago.

Wow! Now that's something different--A splash from a 1940's comic book. It seems a guy has to judge the best looking woman from the most beautiful women in history. (Kinda sounds like a Superman story from the '50s doesn't it?) Cool piece, even if it was unpublished. I like it a lot. Nice pick-up.
