Rachel Benning from "Red Garden" by Janet Sung

"Red Garden" was one of several horror magical girl stories created years before "Madoka Magica" was ever a thought. It was a story about four teenage girls living in New York City, told they've essentially died and been given new bodies but must now spend their nights fighting against monsters in order to keep living.

Rachel was the group's designated party girl, but was also shown to be rather observant. She had the most difficulty adjusting to her new existent, suffering existential dread and alienating herself from her friends when they could offer her no comfort or moral support.

I love that Janet included such detailing on Rachel's nails. The first hint that something bad happened was Rachel noticing one of her nails broken in a rather odd way.
