Description

Another somewhat traditionally paneled page here, but Perkins can't resist a little break with that last insert. The lightness of this flashback sequence continues nicely, and the memories that are immediately released when a South Asian recalls sharing tea with a loved one cannot be overstated. Perkins takes the opportunity to continue the 'water-drops' motif here, this time with the overhead shot of the tea.

A great, great moment.

I really enjoyed this entire scene, where the prodigal son returns yet you could still feel the cold distance stemming from the inability to see eye to eye, that separates father and son. I really enjoy the middle panel of the overhead shot of the tea cup as the rain drops fall right in. It was also noce to see at least one flashback to a moment where Levi and his dad are at least somewhat on good terms, give that this would ultimately become one of the last times Levi would see his father in good heal before he passed away.
